All about the trip
Our first stop will be a visit to the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, which is the most significant Roman cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock.
Then we will drive to visit the Roman Amphitheater of Alexandria with the display of the monuments of Alexandria which were recovered from underwater when they were discovered under the East harbour of Alexandria.
You will also drive by Pompey's Pillar and stop here to take some photos. Pillar was constructed in honour of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century.
Next stop is the Library of Alexandria, the biggest library in the world. Now it contains more than 8 million books. Visit it’s open court where you can see the statue of Alexander the Great and the statue of Ptolemy the first, which was found underwater nearby. You will visit the library’s manuscripts museum, president Saddat Museum and impressions of Alexandria Museum.
The car will then take you to visit the Church of St. Mark which is the oldest church in Africa. During your drive, you will see the old downtown and the local historical architecture.
Visit El Nabi Daniel Mosque which is believed by many people to be related to the tomb of Alexander the Great. It is said to contain the remains of the scholar and teacher Prophet Daniel and his companion Sidi Lokman el-Hakim, a religious story-teller.
You can have lunch at a modern fish restaurant or a famous and traditional Alexandrian food place called Mohamed Ahmed’s. The Queen of Spain and many famous people go there when they visit Alexandria.
The car will then take you to visit the prettiest and the most prominent mosque in the city, the Abbo Elabbas Mosque. At the other side are the Corniche and the old harbour where you can see the old fishing boats, men fishing and traditional fishermen making nets. The photos taken here are amazing.
Continue to see the outside of the most spectacular Quaitbay Castle which was built on the same site as the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of Ancient World. The guide will then take you to the gardens of Montaza. On the way, you can quickly have a two minute stop for some freshly squeezed juices.
After that, you can make some photos by the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier of Alexandria. The beautiful coastline and all the views of the city are on route to Montaza Palace and Gardens which are approximately 25 km away, including the old harbour of Alexandria where more than 7000 monuments were found underwater.
Once in Montaza Gardens, commonly known as the Love Garden (all romantic couples and families go there) you will visit the Royal Gardens of King Farouk (the last king in the history of Egypt) and see the Royal palaces of Haramlek and Salamlek. You can also walk along the famous Montaza Bridge and reach the Tea Palace Island and see the Royal beaches of the queens. On your way back you will stop over the Stanley Bridge, the modern landmark of Alexandria, built by Alexander the Great. What Wikipedia Says
