All about the trip
Discover Balinese rich culture and nature on an 1-day sightseeing countryside tour. Visit traditional villages and see silversmiths at work in Celuk, batik weaving in Batubulan and wood carving in Mas. Admire beautifully decorated ancient temples and the impressive volcano of Mount Batur.
Many villages in Bali still keep traditional art and crafts alive and we visit a few of them to watch local people at work and admire their skills.
In the morning we drive to the village of Batubulan which is the local center of handmade batik weaving. From there we continue to the village of Celuk which is known for their gold and silversmiths. Generations of craftsmen hand over their experiences from father to son and we can see beautiful pieces of art coming out of their hands.
Our next stop is the village of Mas famous for woodcarving. Here we can learn how to tell a good work from bad. Then we can admire outstanding pieces of woodcarving at the Batuan Trinity Temple in the village of Batuan.
The Gunung Kawi Temple dates back to 11th century and there are 10 funeral monuments carved in rock cliff up to the height of 7 m.
We enjoy our lunch in Kintamani, with panoramic view of the active volcano of Mount Batur and Lake Batur.
After lunch we drive to the village of Tegalalang with the picturesque landscape of green rice terraces and spice gardens. Here we can taste the most expensive coffee in the world, Luwak coffee, which is processed from beans that passed through digestive tract of civets.
We continue to the Ubud Monkey Forest. The sanctuary is the natural habitat of the Balinese long-tailed Monkey and about 800 of the animals live here. You can watch them jumping and playing around.
Our last stop is the town of Ubud where we can stroll the alleys of the local market and admire the Royal Palace.
