All about the trip
Join us for an unforgettable morning exploring Seoul's cultural highlights!
Together with your English-speaking tour-guide we will visit several UNESCO sites in Seoul. Our first stop after collecting you from your hotel is the beautiful Changdeok Palace.
Changdeok Palace is the best preserved of the 'five royal palaces' in Seoul. It was the main palace of many Joseon Kings for an exceptionally long period of time. Located next to the palace is the “Secret Garden”, a beautiful landscape garden used exclusively by the Korean Royal Family. Jongmyo Shrine was built to hold the ancestral tablets for the kings of the Joseon Dynasty.
Next on our morning tour will be the Jongmyo Royal Shrine. The Jongmyo Royal Shrine was the primary place of worship for the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. It was built when the first King of the Joseon Dynasty, Lee Sung-Gye (1335-1408) founded the Joseon Dynasty.
After enjoying much opulence at the royal palaces, we will now head over to our third destination of the morning, the Insadong Arts and Crafts Market.
The Insadong Market itself has been at the heart of nation’s capital for over 600 years and was an important centre of culture during the Chosun Dynasty period which lasted from 1392 to 1910.
This location is also where the Ministry of Art was once situated. Insadong usually refers to the area from Anguk-dong Rotary to Tapgol Park in Jongro, past the Insadong Intersection. The notable features of Insadong are the countless alleys that branching out from the main street. Insadong has become known as ‘Merry’s Area,’ a favourite shopping spot among foreigners because of its many hidden alleys and side-streets hiding treasures.
An unforgettable morning of Korean cultural highlights will leave you with a new outlook on this ancient capital city!
