We start our trip in Pinnawela elephant orphanage. It is situated northwest of the town Kegalla and was established 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife department. At this place, orphans or injured elephants are cured in a natural surrounding. The highlight of this place is the daily track of the elephants down to the river in which you can watch the elephants taking a bath. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to watch the staff feeding the baby elephants. This 24 acres elephant orphanage is also a breeding place for elephants. More than 20 elephants have been born here since 1984. This complex is the biggest orphanage for elephants in the world. At the elephant riding, you can ride on the back of an elephant and enjoy the landscape.
Our next stop is the tea factory and plantation. You will visit a tea plantation in the highlands and you can learn about picking techniques and procedures in the factory.
In the Peradeniya Botanical garden, you will be amazed by its beauty. This botanical garden is known as the most beautiful garden in the whole Asia. Among other things, you can see one of the highest birch fig trees on earth. You can explore over 4000 different kinds of plants in an area of 60 hectares.
We finish our journey in Kandy. Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It is set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest. The city’s heart is scenic Kandy Lake, also known as Bogambara Lake. It is popular for strolling and known for The Tooth Relic Temple, also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa. It is said, that the left canine of Buddha is laying here and it is also the highest sacred temple in Sri Lanka. To the canine’s honor, the people celebrate an annual festival called Esala Perahera. During this festival, the tooth is carried through the streets of Kandy by an elephant. What Wikipedia Says
