- Tanah Rata town
- Aborigine village
- Tea plantation and a butterfly farm
All about the trip
Cameron Highlands is a hill resort in the State of Pahang. Cameron Highlands were discovered by a British surveyor Sir William Cameron in 1885.
On our trip, we will also visit Batu Caves and climb 272 steps to the famous temple of Hindu god who is honored during the Hindu festival of Thaipusam every year. Ladies have to be properly attired to enter the temple. Cascading waterfalls are a beautiful place for some photo shooting. Souvenirs, tribal handicrafts, strange herbs and aphrodisiacs are available at roadside stalls.
Later during the day, we will visit an aborigine village and see a demonstration of how to hunt with a blowpipe. We will have lunch at Tanah Rata town, the biggest town in the Camerons, at 13:00. Next on our program is a visit to the tea plantation, which offers a vast scenery of greenery. The tea plantation works hand in hand with the WWF and the Malaysian Nature society for the conservation of elephants and the orangutans. Purchases made by you at the tea shop goes to the conservation funds. You can enjoy photo shooting and relaxing walk at the plantation. The butterfly farm which we will also see, is a secret paradise hosting some 5 000 butterflies that dance on scented flowers and ferns. Gardens, exotic plants, fresh water turtles and insects found here are also just as stunning. You can handpick fresh strawberries here. Our final waypoint is a vegetable farm.
