All about the trip
We depart after breakfast for the Kuala Lumpur Tower which is 421 meters high and houses the telecommunication and meteorological stations and a revolving restaurant. Catch a bird’s eye view of the city from the Observation deck and take some great photos of Twin Towers and Jamek Mosque. Our next stop is a guided educational tour of Royal Selangor Pewter factory where handcrafted souvenirs are made out of tin, antimony and copper, mined in Malaysia. We move on to the famous Batu Caves which is a limestone outcrop that has a series of caves and cave temples and is the most popular temple outside of India. Climb 272 steps into the temple of Hindu deity honored during “Thaipusam” every year. Please note that ladies must be properly attired to enter the temple. After the visit, we will have Malaysian lunch on a banana leaf and the tour continues to the King’s palace. Our next waypoint is the National Monument which is a war memorial of our fallen heroes. We will also see Independence square - a unique colonial landmark of Moorish design built by the British. This was the venue where the British flag the Union Jack was lowered and the Malaysian flag raised on August 1957. Among other interesting monuments that we will visit is St. Mary’s Cathedral, which is a Gothic Anglican Cathedral, with Queen of England being its patron. We will also see the Royal Selangor clubhouse is an exclusive building of Tudor styled design patronized by the British elites. Along the way back to your hotel, we will drive through Little India, which is a great place for some nice photos.
