Ribeiro Frio portela is one of the most accessible and easiest paths with Laurisilva vegetation of the island. On this mostly flat levada path, you will get carried away by the amazing views through the valleys and the villages that follow the water path, starting on the northern and finishing on the southern part of the island. We will see the difference between both parts and admire the construction of this particular levada.

After about 8 km flat terrain trek, we will start our descend to Portela, which is also the hardest part of the walk through some dirt paths. But don´t worry, it will pay off with one of the most amazing views over Porto da Cruz and Faial.

This is a mixed walk done in levada and trail, please make sure you wear appropriate footwear and clothes, and that vertigo, and a little steeper descend are not a problem for you.

Infant seats are available on request. Not wheelchair accessible.
