All about the trip
Our tour guide will pick you up from Borg Elarab Airport. First, you will visit the library of Alexandria, the biggest library in the world. It contains more than 8 million books. Visit its open court where you can see the statue of Alexander the Great and the statue of Ptolemy the first, which was found underwater nearby. You will visit the library’s reading hall inside, president Saddat Museum and impressions of Alexandria Museum.
Next stop on this journey is a visit of the Roman Amphitheater of Alexandria. You can see the display of the sunken monuments, which were discovered under the East harbour of Alexandria.
The guide will then take you to visit the church of St. Mark, the oldest church in Africa.
We will then visit the old downtown of Alexandria, where you can walk through the old city center of Alexandria. Don´t forget to visit the traditional markets, where everything and anything is sold, including traditional Egyptian sweets and treats.
Tour will continue to the El Nabi Daniel Mosque, which is believed by many people to be related to Alexander the Great tomb. It is said to contain the remains of the scholar and a teacher Prophet Daniel and his companion Sidi Lokman el Hakim, a religious story-teller.
You can have lunch at a modern fish restaurant or in the famous Alexandrian food place called Mohamed Ahmed’s. The Queen of Spain and many famous people go there when they visit Alexandria.
Tour will continue by passing through the oldest market area in Mansheya, where you can see the traditional women's markets (zan’et the ) with very thin and narrow streets. You can also go to the gold market, where local people buy wedding and engagement jewellery.
The car will then take you to visit the prettiest and biggest mosque in the city, the Abbo Elabbas Mosque. Opposite this mosque is the Corniche and the old harbour, where you can see the old fishing boats, men fishing and traditional fishermen making nets. The photos taken here are amazing.
We will then continue to see the outside of Quaitbay Castle, which was built on the same site as the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
On the way to the Gardens of Montaza, we can have an optional stop to get some freshly squeezed juices. If you want, you can also have a photo stop at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier of Alexandria.
Montaza Gardens are also commonly known as the Love Gardens (all romantic couples and families go there). You will visit the Royal Gardens of King Farouk (the last king in the history of Egypt). We will walk along the famous Montaza Bridge and see the Royal Palaces of Haramlek and Salamlek. At the end of a walk, you will reach the Tea Palace Island and the Royal beaches. On your way back you will stop over the famous Bridge of Stanley, the modern landmark of Alexandria.
Our guide will then drive you in comfort back to the airport or hotel in Alexandria. What Wikipedia Says
