All about the trip

Enter the city with its buildings, schools, hospital and shops – where there is no one living there. Experience the haunted atmosphere of the place and learn the thrilling story of its glory days as well as its end when it was completely abandoned. And when it turned to a silent witness to history and a tourist sightseeing spot.

We will pick you up in your Hurghada hotel and drive 26 km from Safaga. After refreshing ourselves with a welcome drink we learn how to fix our scarves to protect us from the sun and the sand. Then we will mount a camel and enjoy a short ride. A Bedouin woman will show us how to make the traditional bread.

The Ghost City exploration starts with a great panoramic view of the whole place. Our guide will then begin to tell its fascinating story.

We will inspect few houses including a restaurant, the villa of an English engineer, the mosque and the cemetery.

We will descend into the phosphate mine and see its railway system.

At the end of the exciting tour, we will enjoy our dinner cooked from fresh ingredients and a cup of Bedouin tea, soft drink or mineral water.
