All about the trip
The everyday life of ancient Egyptians might be hard to imagine until you start this tour in Luxor. Set on the east bank of Nile River in the southern part of the country, the city is known for its incredible underground mausoleums and temples constructed between the 16th and 11th centuries BC.
Your tour starts with two-hour horseback riding through Bedouin villages and farms. As you pass by, it is possible to have an idea about the lifestyle of this group of nomadic Arab people who have historically inhabited the desert regions in North Africa. After that, you head to Karnak temple by a horse-drawn carriage. When you arrive, you can explore this fantastic place full of ruins of temples, chapels, pylons, and other constructions, including the cult temple dedicated to the gods Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. This is the largest sacred fane ever constructed.
Following up your day, you have a break for lunch in a traditional café on the west bank of Nile. This is time to taste delicious local dishes and enjoy the astonishing views of the river.
Once you finish your meal, is time to visit the Animal Care Hospital and Charity in Egypt, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping stop the suffering of thousands of animals in the most impoverished communities of Luxor. Among other species, the entity treats horses, donkeys, camels, dogs, and cats who need special care.
Before returning to your hotel, you still have a last drop of adventure. It is your chance to explore the Nile a little more on horseback or camel.
The fantastic ancient world, the peculiar local culture, the delicious food, the care with the animals. After you return to your hotel, you realize how unique your experience was.
