All about the trip
Feel the excitement of taking a canoe trip down the Ason River, fall in love with the landscape of Collados del Ason Natural Park and discover one of the famous caves in Ramales de la Victoria.
We will leave at 9:15 in a direction of Ramales de la Victoria, where we will visit either Cullalvera or Covalanas cave. Cullalvera is a majestic cave, formed by large cavities of easy access. You can enjoy the magic show of sound, light and water inside the cave. On the other side is the famous Cave of Covalanas, also known as the cave of red deer. It is a World Heritage Site of Unesco since 2008. The historical importance of this cave is in its figures endowed with realism and movement portrayed by the red color of its paintings.
Our next stop is a nice restaurant for lunch. After this break, we will go to the Natural Park of the Collados del Asón with the magnificent mountains, ancient forests and beautiful valleys. In these mountains, the Asón River flows in a form of a spectacular waterfall of more than 50 meters. Another river you can admire during this trip is the Gandara River. This river rises among gentle meadows. Both rivers run through valleys of Soba and Ruesga, to finally unify in Ramales de la Victoria.
Finally, we will go to the municipality of Ampuero. From this place, we will descent in the canoe on the Asón river (through the municipality of Udalla). The duration of this canoeing experience will be of about 2,5 to 3 hours. A fun experience for everybody!
Once the canoeing trip is finished, we will go back to Santander where we should arrive around 19:30.
