All about the trip
Start your day at 10:00 from our office in Ayutthaya near the train station and return back between 16:00 and 16:30. Once you have your bike ready, we will follow the road in a northern direction passing by idyllic villages, rice paddies, and a local school where you may be able to interact with the kids.
Reach Phaniat Royal Elephant Kraal which was used during Ayutthaya’s heyday to entrap wild elephants. Ayutthaya kings would then choose the best ones and have them trained for war and labor.
The closer you get to the old capital, the more ruins of temples you will see along the way. Around 12:30 you can look forward to a delicious Thai lunch at a riverside restaurant. After the meal, enter the old capital, visit Wat Mahathat and Wat Pra Sri Sanphet temples and learn about their history.
Continue the tour to a local market with all the delicious food. Closeby you can see the biggest reclining Buddha in Ayutthaya. After you are done with pictures of the giant Buddha, ride to the remarkable temple of Wat Chai Wattanaram. It was constructed in 1630 by King Prasat Thong as a memorial of his mother’s residence in that area.
Keep on cycling along the west bank of the Chao Phraya River until you reach the pier and cross the river once more to get back to the meeting point.
