All about the trip

Visit Vietnam's first nature reserve, Cuc Phuong National Park. Explore the jungle valley with tropical rainforest which is home to numerous endangered fauna species including pangolin and porcupine. See a 1000-year-old cave dwelling.

Starting early in the morning we drive 120 km south-east from Hanoi. Cuc Phuong National Park in Red River Delta has been made into a nature reserve in 1962.

There is a number of caves there which were inhabited by humans thousands of years ago. And several conservation programs with the aim to protect Vietnam's biodiversity are located in the national park.

We visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Center dedicated to protection and research of the animals and we can see langurs, loris and gibbons there.

Then we venture deeper into the park to explore the lush vegetation. It is a fantastic and humbling experience to stand by a thousand-year-old tree.

We have lunch in a stilt house in the center of the park. After the break we visit the “Cave of Early Man” to inspect the ancient human dwelling.

Enjoy a refreshing escape to a beautiful valley where you can see many fauna and flora species including orchids and lianas. Leopards may also still be present in the park.
