All about the trip
This dive site has a deep reef perfect for more experienced, technical divers. We typically dive down to 50 – 100 meters at Batu Nitu so you will need to be experienced with deep dives.
At Batu Nitu, we have a high chance to see the legendary giant sunfish, the “Mola-Mola” and Hammerhead Sharks. There are also plenty of muck marine life to discover in the depths of the coral-encrusted black lava rock.
Some divers visiting Batu Nitu have even described it being like ‘diving under the volcano’. This is because most of the reef has been formed from the major lava flow that descended when Gunung Agung erupted in 1963 and entered the sea.
An enormous Black coral bush at the edge between 16m and 22m marks your waypoint as you descend. There are also a large number of barrel sponges of all sizes and shapes at Batu Nitu, some of them barely able to take hold on the steep slope. Schooling Barracuda are regulars here too and occasionally, large pelagics cruise by. There are also reports of whale sharks being spotted at Batu Nitu!
As with all our sea dives, you will need diving experience and to be diver certified in order to participate on this activity.Watch on Youtube
