All about the trip

Skinaria beach is located 33km south of Rethymno town, towards the south-eastern side of the popular Plakias beaches. Skinaria itself is a wonderfully-secluded horseshoe-shaped cove beach with crystal-clear blue waters. The main part of Skinaria's shoreline is a beautiful pebbly beach with the cove itself being flanked by large rock formations on each side; a natural configuration which makes for some really interesting exploring during higher tides. The location itself really is off of the beaten-track, making it just perfect for shore-line divers and snorkelers who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Crete’s more-popular tourist beaches.

Possibly the best part of Skinaria beach would be its many underwater caves that are just waiting to be explored. There is one large cave that forms an underwater tunnel towards the right side of the cove which your tour guide would be happy to show you. Experienced divers visiting Skinaria will also most-certainly enjoy the wall dives formed by the rocks along the left hand edge of the cove. Like much of the island of Crete, there is also the chance to see some unique and fascinating marine life such as Octopuses, Rainbow Wrasses, Flounder Fishes, Starfishes, Juvenile Groupers, Sea Basses, Seahorses and many more colourful creatures in the Mediterranean sea. You will not be disappointed!
