All about the trip
Palung is a site famous for its technical diving and interesting underwater bowl configurations. 'Palung' literally translates to 'trough' in Indonesian.
We will generally dive at around 18 – 40 metres. At this depth we will have a chance to see napoleon fish, groupers, humphead parrotfish, pygmy seahorses, Redtooth triggerfish, shrimp and octopus. If we venture a little deeper we may also discover a cleaning station for the legendary Mola-Molas at around 85 metres. Scalloped Hammerhead sharks have also been seen here.
These underwater troughs are made up of overhangs, steep slopes and drop-offs; most of which are covered in hard and soft corals. These colourful corals cover big chunks of lava which lay in the bowls and in the areas of gently sloping black sand.
There’s a reasonable current at Palung, warm temperatures of around 27-30 celcius. Visibility is generally around 25 metres. As with all our sea dives, you will need diving experience in order to participate on this activity.Watch on Youtube
