All about the trip
Join us for an incredible day of shopping in the Korean capital of Seoul!
This tour is definitely aimed at serious shopaholics who want to be taken to the best retail spots in Korea.
So, if you are passionate about shopping and exploring new fashions then let's follow the example of Seoul’s young trendsetters and head south of the river to the affluent Gangnam areas of Garosugil and Rodeo street. This will be one of our first stops of the day after collecting you from your hotel in Seoul.
Indeed, there are lots of garosu-gils (“tree-lined streets”) throughout Seoul. Garosu-gil in Sinsa-dong is probably the most-famous with locals. Adorned with ancient Ginkgo trees, Garosu-gil stretches less than a kilometre in Sinsa-dong, however it is still considered an important area within the greater Gangnam area.
Next up will be the famous Apgujeong Rodeo Street, which is a leading fashion mecca. Formed as a cultural zone, it offers leading fashion trends, foreign brand shops, urban fashion shops and numerous accessories shops.
There are also many cafes on Apgujeong Rodeo Street, as well as many Korean, Thai and Japanese restaurants. Beauty clinics are also clustered on the streets and due to this atmosphere, Rodeo Street attracts many fashion-conscious Korean youngsters.
Along with the opening of Multi-Plex Cine-City, more theatres such as Cineplus and the Nanta Theater (non-verbal performances) have moved into the area. It's not uncommon to see famous Korean celebrities here.
After lunch, your English-speaking guide will lead you over to Namdaemun Market, which is one of the best spots in Seoul to get unique souvenirs and clothing.
Namdaemun Traditional Market was first opened in 1964 and it is the largest traditional market in Korea. The displayed goods are often sold at trade prices and the market also functions as a wholesale market. Most of the goods for sale here are produced directly from the shopkeepers.
There is also the famous Myeongdong Street, which is located in the centre of the city. Known as one of the primary shopping districts in Seoul. The two main streets meet in the centre of the block with one beginning from the Myeong-dong Subway Station (Seoul Subway Line No. 4) and the other from the Lotte Department Store at Euljiro.
Many famous brand-name shops and department stores line the streets here, several major department stores include Lotte Department Store, Shinsegae Department Store, Myeong-dong Migliore, Noon Square and M Plaza. The department stores here carry many premium labels and other local fashion brands.
Myeong-dong also has many family restaurants, fast food options, traditional Korean, classic Western and Japanese dining options. Many restaurants in Myeong-dong specialize in pork cutlet (donkas) and kalguksu (thick noodles). Other businesses around here include hair salons, banks and theatres.
The Myeongdong Catholic Church is also a well-known tourist attraction here. It is the pillar of the Catholic community in Korea and was built in a traditional Gothic style. It's certainly worth a look.
After such an extensive day of shopping and cultural exploration you will no doubt be tired, so don't worry, we will return you to your hotel in Seoul by private vehicle.
