All about the trip
The first stop of our trip will be Þingvellir National Park. Over the course of thousands of years, the geological movements have formed what is now the land of the national park. At the south of the park is the lake Þingvallavatn. It is the largest natural lake in Iceland.
Geysir and Strokkur are two perfect examples of the raw power of Icelandic nature. Geysir, a geothermal field located in the southern part, combines hot springs, a dome and a volcanic cone, which are the remains of an old volcano.
If you are in Iceland, you have to visit Gullfoss. This 32 meter waterfall is nourished by the water of Langjökull glacier. The water rushes in a large canyon. When the weather is good, you will be able to go down next to the falls and get closer to the gorges.
From September to April, when the sky is clear, we will go hunting for northern lights. This unpredictable and unique phenomenon is best visible far away from the city lights, and we will look for the best possible point of observation. One of the advantages of our tour by super Jeep in a small group is the possibility to adapt our itinerary according to the area and activity of the northern lights.
Northern lights are caused by cosmic rays, solar wind and magnetospheric plasma interacting with the upper atmosphere. Be completely amazed by this dazzling show of beauty, pulsating colors ranging from green to blue, sometimes red or yellow. It splits the darkness of the night and gives off a bright light sometimes stronger than the moon. The shifting and changing shapes create one of the finest show of the sky and of nature.
